Discover Ontario
Vaughan Mills features an architectural design theme based on DISCOVER ONTARIO, which celebrates the beauty and diversity of the province. Ontario’s unique combination of elements are featured in six distinct retail neighbourhoods, striking entry points, transition courts and the impressive Roadside Picnic Food Court.
Lakes Neighbourhood 1
In Lakes Neighbourhood 1, experience turquoise floors inlaid with natural steppingstone, ceramic and glass tile accents, as well as internally illuminated glass ponds. Abstract ‘liquid’ wall graphics frame retailer entries and incorporate water inspired details. Along the way, are running rivers of fabric banners, the glistening of metal sparkle discs, a restful island retreat and a 15’ replica of Bruce County’s historical Big Tub Lighthouse.
Nature Neighbourhood 2
In Nature Neighbourhood 2, a field of ceramic tile splashed with colour, transitions to natural wood on the stroll through this area. Above, blending acrylic leaf elements flutter as if in a breeze. Nature’s theme is strengthened within the storefront entries through form, colour and materials representative of Ontario’s great outdoors. Colourful changing wall graphics of blowing leaves reflect the seasons, from spring to fall.
Rural Neighbourhood 3
In Rural Neighbourhood 3, one passes through the gateway into the idyllic landscape of the rural countryside and wine peninsula regions. Golden fields of wood floor and wall graphics demonstrate the organic geometry of Ontario’s breadbasket landscape. A trellised grape arbour is a place to relax as stylized hanging ‘barn’ light pendants and a fibre-basket chandelier lead the way to rural packaged portal storefront entries.
Small Towns Neighbourhood 4
The Small Towns Neighbourhood 4 is reminiscent of Ontario’s villages, hamlets and towns. A patchwork quilt of sidewall graphics provide a colourful listing of small towns and their mottos. A grand entry architectural structure along with a colourful paper doll cut-out ceiling feature, celebrates the multi-cultural aspects of the province. Over-scaled street lanterns and a town square sculpture, ‘the shaky shopper’, complete the scene.
City Neighbourhood 5
The City Neighbourhood 5 is a progressive, gutsy style of an Ontario metropolis. Diverse patterns and textures bring a city block to life. An overhead stacked windshield series suggest the characteristics of city movement, activity and excitement. As day turns to night, city lights and the distinctive patterning of building lights appear in the graphic sky at this main entry point and throughout surrounding retail.
Fashion Neighbourhood 6
The Fashion Neighbourhood 6 embodies this sophisticated and progressive culture within Ontario. The clean and minimalist lines of top designer storefronts reveal the season’s latest in colour, diversity and style. The music overhead creates energy and movement throughout the space. Rear illuminated storefronts, shapely light forms and intermingled metal rings dance from the ceiling while contrasting dark flooring highlight the ‘runway’ of high-end retailers.
