Vaughan Mills and Smart Commute are proud to launch Smart Parking, a sustainable transportation initiative.

To promote smarter commuting and greener efforts, each of our six main entrances offer two prime parking spaces dedicated to smart shoppers.  Vaughan Mills is rewarding the following customers with preferred Smart Parking spaces:

About Smart Commute

Smart Commute is a program of Metrolinx and the municipalities in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. We help local employers and commuters, like you, explore different commute choices like carpooling, cycling and transit. Our goal is to ease gridlock, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while making your commute less expensive and more enjoyable.

BULLFROG POWER

A partnership to provide Vaughan Mills with 100% green and carbon-free electricity for 50% of the electricity usage in the common areas of the shopping centre. Part of Ivanhoe Cambridge's environmental sustainability program, which also includes conservation and recycling.
 

ENERSHIFT DEMAND RESPONSE (DR) PROGRAM

Vaughan Mills takes a number of initiatives to reduce its electricity consumption on a short term basis, in response to the grid system reliability concerns or market price.

 

DIVERSION PROGRAM

A waste and recycling program to help divert our cardboard and paper, cans, glass, plastic bottles, wood skids, and grease from landfills. It includes enhanced 3-stream recycling units for each of our six neighbourhoods and an enhanced recycling system for our retailers, including blue boxes, training, and modified signage, to help them recycle.

Through our recycling efforts, we’ve continued to meet the Ministry of Environment's Regulations and positively impacted our environment by recycling more than 3,500 metric tons since opening in 2004. This is equivalent to the weight of more than 780 adult elephants or over 570 full school buses!

In recognition of our ongoing environmental efforts, we have received two bronze Waste Minimization Awards from the Recycling Council of Ontario in 2008 and 2010.

 

RETURN AND RECYCLE PROGRAM & LOCATIONS

The goal of this program is to divert as many phones and accessories as possible from Canadian landfills to ensure that the hazardous components of mobile phones are disposed in a responsible manner. Return and Recycle locations include Telus, Best Buy Mobile, and Rogers.
